Is it possible to reduce the power of the XFinity wifi antennae or disable 2.4Ghz?

I'm the IT Director at a large boarding school.  We run a wireless network in our dorms but many faculty were given permissions to use XFinity for unfiltered Internet access.  Their wifi is causing horrendous interference with ours.  I'd like to reduce the power to their wifi antennae or disable 2.4Ghz on their modems (or both).  I have no problem providing them instructions to work with Comcast to make it happen.

First, is what I'm describing doable?  Could we reduce power to the wifi antennae upon request?  Could we disable 2.4Ghz?

My alternative is to have them disable their service which will not be popular.  That said, this is impacting our students' ability to take classes from their dorm rooms so I'm required to do something.

Thanks,

Scott

You don't say what equipment you are using, so it difficult to give a solid answer, but if you going to the admin panel on your Comcast gateway, you can disable it there, http://10.0.0.1  but some times changing channels on the router and bandwidth settings can alleviate a lot of the overlapping of the 2 networks

AFAIK, those settings are now disabled in the user interface pages of the gateway and they can only be accessed using the Xfi app or the Xfi website. YMMV.

Odd, I was able to access those settings on every rented Comcast gateway until I got the new Xb7 2 weeks ago, that's why I asked about his equipment, I didn't use the xfi app to access them, I just looked and I can disable the 2.4 WiFi in those settings

I was able modify those settings with my old gateway the Xb6, with a lot of research and experiment I was able to dial in my gateway for optimum performance with my existing equipment and environment, when I activated my new Xb7 it carried those same settings to my new gateway, they are grayed out now but still show as the settings I had before, I get great speed and reliability and never disconnect, but I do have to say you have to be careful changing stuff, I was getting 600+ WiFi download speeds and changed one setting to the next one available and my speed dropped to under 90, changed it back and it went back to over 600
