Is it possible to have my IP address changed?

I've recently noticed that strange e-mails have been sent from my gmail account and that I've just had trouble accessing some websites I used to have no problem accessing before. When I asked Google AI about these occurrences it stated that it could be related to hackers using my IP address to mask their activities. Google suggested that I contact my internet provider to see if I can change my IP address. Is this possible?

They won't change for you. A possible workaround. If you are using a router that has a MAC address cloning feature, you can clone a different MAC address in to it. This will force a change of your Comcast-assigned WAN / public IP address.

Have you turned on Advanced Security on the Xfinity Gateway for your service? You should do so as it helps cut down on bad actors across websites.

If you are not familiar I would suggest tools to list processes active on your computer and visit qualified forums to see if your computer is hijacked or not. There was once a free utility called HiJackThis! Which was useful for its time I think it got sold off to another company and not sure if its free anymore.

Make sure you have all forms of authentication on with your computer and sign out other instances of Gmail in which you do not need.
