iPhone 13 disconnecting

For a few days my IPhone keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to my home WiFi. I will also get a notification that a “new device” has connected to the network.

Good Morning, @user_2fd3b3 Thank you for reaching out. That definitely sounds frustrating — especially when your iPhone keeps dropping the WiFi connection and you’re getting alerts about “new devices.” When that happens, it can feel like something’s wrong with your network or even like someone else might be connecting.

In most cases, this is caused by the router briefly assigning your phone a new IP address each time it reconnects, which can make it appear as a “new device.” It can also happen if your phone is switching between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands.

Try these quick steps:

  1. Forget the network on your iPhone (Settings › Wi-Fi › tap the “i” next to your network › Forget This Network).

  2. Restart your router and your phone.

  3. Reconnect to the WiFi and enter your password again.
