IP Reputation Attacks

I have installed a NAS an enabled the NAS Firewall.  I have port forwarded 5000 to the NAS.  I am now getting several IP Reputation Attack messages from Xfinity Advanced Security, advising me to restart the NAS and disable any port forwards.  The NAS needs the port forwarded in order to properly connect to the NAS using available phone apps.

Am I to disregard these messages from Advanced Security or should I be concerned about these supposed attacks?

I have no warning messages from the NAS indicating any kind of attack or improper log in attempts.

Thank you

@user_1097cb Hello and thanks for reaching out with your questions! An IP address earns a negative reputation when suspicious activity is detected, such as spam or viruses originating from that address, so it is not something I would recommend ignoring. If you believe that your IP address has been given a negative reputation erroneously, I would recommend reaching out to our Advanced security team for more information. You can go here to report issues online, or for their contact information. I also found this older forum post that may help you out. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

So, should I disable port forwarding on 5000 and lose access to my NAS or leave it ported and let anything that may get by xfinity be handled by the NAS firewall?

I wish I had the answer for you, but I am not super familiar with your setup and this is past what we troubleshoot since it is your personal equipment. I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of the NAS device for configuration recommendations, or contact our advanced security team for more information. -Abbie
