IP address reservations fail to be assigned to PC

My media / security camera server has a reserved IP address of 192.168.1.100 assigned in the port forwarding configuration of my Xfinity (Arris TG4482A) gateway to enable remote access to the server. It has worked properly for years until today. The PC is now getting a DHCP-assigned address (192.168.1.140) instead of its reserved IP address. I would normally just use a static IP for port forwarding, but the Xfinity gateway doesn't support that, requiring address reservation from within the DHCP address pool.

Hey there evantl1, you're correct about not providing static IP's to our residential services, however; I'd still like to work with you. I want to make sure we're on the same page and ask a few clarifying questions. Are you able to confirm your port forward settings? Also, has anything changed in the home before this issue began?

After most of an entire day with multiple "teams" of Xfinity "agents" via chat and telephone, followed by a technician visit, I ended up getting a new gateway and setting everything up from scratch. No matter what we tried, the PC continued to get a .140 DHCP address while the gateway retained the .100 reserved address. It's working fine now, but on the .140 address now instead of the desired .100 address. Whatever the cause, this issue could have been easily resolved if I had an option to "forget the device". No, removing it from the network didn't work, nor did deleting the port forward and address reservation. A better solution would be having the ability to edit the reserved IP address for each port forward instead of using whatever address the device happened to have when the port forward is configured.

You're talking WAN / public, they're talking LAN / private......
