Internet Unstable errors on Zoom, Pixelated broadcast channels

For the past several months I have noticed pixelation on some local broadcast channels. This occurs on live TV as well as recordings. I also have been receiving "Internet Unstable" errors on Zoom. Generally I use the mobile app to reset the TV box and/or power cycle the router.

On the router I see what appears to be high CM Error Codeword values. I'm using a direct Ethernet connection to the router when using Zoom. Could these be related?

What do the modem's signal status values look like ?

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing. Let's break down the possible causes and solutions for each problem.

Pixelation on Local Broadcast Channels

Pixelation can be caused by several factors:

  1. Signal Strength: Weak signal strength can lead to pixelation. Ensure all cables are tightly connected and undamaged.
  2. Weather Interference: Bad weather can disrupt signals. If pixelation occurs during storms, this might be the cause.
  3. Outdated Equipment: Older TV models or outdated software can struggle with digital signals. Ensure your TV and set-top box are up to date.
  4. Internet Connection: If you're streaming, a poor internet connection can cause pixelation. Switching to a wired connection might help.

"Internet Unstable" Errors on Zoom

This issue can be related to several factors:

  1. Network Congestion: Multiple devices using the same network can cause instability. Try reducing the number of active devices.
  2. Router Issues: Restarting your router can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Ensure your router firmware is up to date.
  3. Network Settings: Running a network troubleshooter can help identify and fix issues.

High CM Error Codeword Values

High CM Error Codeword values indicate issues with your internet connection:

  1. Signal Quality: Check for any damage or loose connections in your coaxial cables. Ensure there are no splitters causing signal degradation.
  2. Power Levels: High or low power levels can cause errors. Adding an attenuator might help balance the signal.
  3. Noise Ingress: Keep electronic devices away from coaxial connections to reduce interference.

Possible Relationship

The pixelation and Zoom errors could be related if both are caused by poor signal quality or network issues. Addressing the signal quality and ensuring stable network connections should help resolve both problems.

If these steps don't resolve the issues, we can take a closer look.
