Recently, Ive noticed my download speeds have dropped from 300Mbps to about 27Mbps. On my desktop, as well as my roommates desktop. I need to download large iso files for school frequently, and its taking hours to do so because of this. Speedtest.net of course shows 300Mbps, but if I use a more reputable internet speed test such as speed.cloudflare.com or speed.measurementlab.net I get 30ish Mbps. Game downloads are 300Mbps however, but any other file downloads are very very slow.
Even more strange, my phone can download any file at about 300Mbps. So it seems as if wifi devices are prioritised, as well as gaming/streaming services, while everything else is slow. This is extremely frustrating. We are using an xfinity gateway, but I have my own wireless access point that I am connecting to.
Why is this occuring? We pay for unlimited 300Mbps connection, and yet I cant download files faster then about 30Mbps.
I have a friend who lives in the same city, also using xfinity, but is on a different circuit and does not see any of these slowdowns. So it seems it may have something to do with the circuit I am on.
