Internet speeds no where near plan.

NOTE: We are a GAMING HOUSEHOLD, we PRIORITIZE GAMING, and I use AI RELATED SOFTWARES on my PC. SPEEDS ARE NO MATTER WHAT A MUST. We use WIFI, not ethernet as it really isn't viable due to the amount of devices, and methods of running the cables.

Previously:

-Owned XB6 Complete 1G Download Speed Plan

-Average Download speed: 800 give or take depending on time of day. (This was truly across all devices when tested)

-Connected Devices- 15-20 ( 2 Xbox Ones Series, 2 PS5s, 1 Pc, 3 Smart TVS, 3 iPad, and the rest would be Mobile Devices)

Due to Security issues our network was compromised, we called they told us that in order to fix this issue we MUST get a new XB (Modem/Router). We asked if we had to that we would just get the same one, at this point we had the XB6 for 6+ years I would say and never had any issues whatsoever, no matter what plan we were on the Speeds always were VERY SIMILAR to what I paid for. So not a single complaint. the XF Agent on the phone told us that since we used so many devices, and because out Data usage per month is 3-5Terrabyes per month instead it was recommended to get the XB8, I've heard nothing about the XB8 at this point however I still wanted my good old fashioned XB6 back, she however was very persistent on shoving the XB8 in the mail and having it as the replacement. Finally I agreed, she did offer it for free for 12 months due to the security issues we had with the XB6. I confirmed the delivery, next she said its basically pointless to have the XB8 and not utilize the Download and Upload or Speed capabilities, that we should also upgrade our plan to the 2GB Plan, however I said no thank you, because in my head doubling my plan automatically meant doubling my money getting spent for internet.. She once again was persistent, and persuaded me to get the 2GB, at the same cost once I was about to hang up. I agreed.... Alright so this is the back story of my issues.

KEEP in mind I know the 2GB is not going to be the Speed for my WIFI connected devices, however I do know I should be pushing around at least 800 seeing my XB6 did that with ease every day just about for a very long time..

I set up the XB8 once it got here.

Smart Connect, worked, in terms of a agent being able to tell me "YoUr InTerNeT SeEms FiNe" However Xbox consoles had WPA3 failure, clicking on the Network would automatically dismiss the networking saying cant connect to WPA3.

Okay... I split bands, which I'd rather have anyways.

With my supposed to be fast 2GB Plan. Download speeds on 2.4 aren't even worth mentioned (60ish),  on my 5GHz it was 130Mbps with equal UPLOAD. Terrible.

Restarted Gateway.. Nothing..

Next I configured Xfinity Gateway Admin Panel, I know what I am doing when it comes to setting up home networks, so the Configurations were not misconfigured, I restarted XB8, and now I get 280ish MBps, but only on my PC, my Xbox is strictly stuck at 130mbps, with a terrible connection time to the internet, 94 latency, and barely working watching YouTube, downloading a 1045MB update, took 30+ minutes. OUTRAGOES.

Xbox ports were configured to the limits that Xfinity lets you... Same with the Firewall. Which is absolutely out of XF Customers control in reality..

I continuously blow up XF Agents, making them test my connections and speeds, "comes back strong" all they care about is my Signal Strength to my devices pretty much, however having 94-100% Connectivity Strenght, makes even more upset dealing with 280 or lower MBPS on a 2GB Plan when my 1GB plan reached 800 consistently... I complained over and over, they say modem is faulty, finally a technician comes.

Technician says no issues at first because they only care about SIGNAL STRENGTH, however I said yeah, no. Check out my speeds this was the entire reason I called, and so he did.

Well,well,well.. Technician sees not a single device is getting over 200MBPS, except my PC. Problem is now NOTED. He RESET XB8, new wifi name, SmartConnect.

We try the devices again, Xbox failed WPA3, he was confused, I told him the only way I could get it to work was to Split Bands, he did not know what I was talking about.. Keep in mind this guys absolutely did not know anything, he came with a MOBILE DEVICES, and A ETHERNET CORD. That's it. I asked where is your Laptop, so you can preform actual Network Troubleshooting, he said "We aren't allow one".. I laughed in misery.

He struggled for 15 more minutes until splitting the bands. Band split Xbox connect, everything else connected, terrible Speed continue...

Not being rude, but I did in fact know more than this guy, he was of no help, he was asking me questions, rather than the complete opposite, he swore the Live Agents were wrong about the Modem being Faulty the whole time, but now he thinks its faulty. He goes to his VAN and comes back REPLACES the brand new XB8 modem with another XB8 Modem.

Same issues Continue. He refuses to use Admin Panel, saying " We are not allowed ". I ask if he wants me to configure the network, while he is here and if he does what configurations does he want, he is completely unaware of the answers to my questions, just refuses to do it, and tries connecting devices again.

Nothing changes, he doesn't know what to do.. He walks outside, calls his boss I guess, comes back in with another XB8 Modem...

After this I walked outside and left him to it... I had already spent a week trying to get my Speeds, and nothing worked. His turn now...

1.5 Hours later or so, I see him getting in his van, I walked up to him, he said "I gave your wife a number to call about getting the Technician Fee Waved due to me not being able to figure out the issue." I said, "yeah thanks paying for a technician to come was not gonna happen due to it not being on my end from the start.." Same thing I told the Phone Lady from Xfinity that sent the Tech when trying to charge me 100+ for them to come and fix a issue not caused by us.

My girl is on the phone with another lady by now, they wont give a manager and refuse to really listen to anything we say, I explained how the guy was not knowledgeable in what seemed like everything other than running a ethernet to his phone and FOCUSING solely on Signal Strength. I explained to her in great detail, everything that I've done and nothing persist. I even disabled WIFI 6 in order to maybe "Force Boost" the 5ghz and 2.4ghz, and it added around 30mps of speed. but still... not really anything when at this point I've tried everything and even the technician was no help.

I have been a CUSTOMER for 10+ YEARS. I'm a DIAMOND MEMBER, i feel like I just went to a starter company and that only watches YouTube videos as their method of learning.

I pay $130 a month for Xfinity Internet which is close to double compared to the local competition for Internet that offers FIBER. for $89 a month..

I also have 3 Mobile Phones I pay for, last month was 5. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying I spent a lot of money a year through XFINITY just to kind of be pushed around now, and my issues not handled...

A Technician comes tomorrow, because the last one couldn't fix the issue, hopefully a Tech with PERMISSION from his UPPERS to access GATEWAY ADMIN PANEL, and to use a Laptop. Or at least is more knowledgeable in the field.

NOTE: COAX Cable running from Outdoor Box to Gateway the tech said was GOOD. He said the box was GOOD also. There is a Communication Line OVERHEAD, that is no longer OVERHEAD I can literally walk over it, THIS WAS THE FIRST THING POINTED OUT TO THE XFINITY TECHNICIAN... He LOOKED at it, and immediately went inside and restarted my XB8 Gateway.. It isn't a power line. It is in fact a communication line, however I don't know if it is Xfinity's/Comcast or another company. I called about his issue a long time again, and so did family members in my house a long time ago, but I still get told I have to pay for the technician to come out, to see if it is XFINITY'S. Which is ridiculous, however it hasn't caused issues if it was XFINITY's when I had my OLD XB6 GATEWAY... Everything started having slow speeds, when getting rid of my XB6 and going to the XB8.

What do I do? The speeds, have even simple browser on mobile devices slow even with no devices connected. It has gaming consoles nearly unplayable. WE ARE A GAMING HOUSEHOLD.

Using my Web browser offered through Xfinity Rewards (Perplexity.AI) it take literally 10 Minutes for any queue... On my XB6 extensive AI searches were less than 30-45 seconds depending on how complicated the prompts were, I know this isn't probably cared about, but AI deal a lot with AI Models and Perplexity Pro is a $200/year Plan that I use EVERYDAY, replacing all internet browsing just about that I do... USING AI related TOOLS are next to impossible now for me due to the lack of Speeds..

It's been in total 2-3 Weeks of having these issues.. It's ridiculous, I want it resolved, and if not I will be forced to leave which is genuinely something I don't want to do. I tried everything even buying a router, same issue persist. HELP ME SOMEONE. I see this issue EVERYWHERE, XB8 claiming to be the best, but when researching has some of the worst experiences for people and someone of the worst VUNERABILITES when it comes to the SECURITY of the XB8.

Why can XFINITY not access and configure my ADMIN PANEL for my GATEWAY, if REQUESTED, just so I can eliminate the OPTION that the issue could be a result of something in there, granted I have tried everything I believe, but still I am the only one in my house knowledgeable enough to do so, and even in knowing what I'm doing, the COMPANY that OWNS the INTERNET, should KNOW the best CONFIGURATIONS, for the Admin Panel.. More so than myself.

If my Capitalization bothers people, I use it to show emphasis, not to show anger. I am not mad, I am frustrated, and disappointed with the lack of help. If not resolved this week, I will sadly no longer be using Xfinity..

Thanks for the read if you made it this far. Please leave this post up. I will POST results of the TECHNICIANS findings, or the lack of to help others in the community. This is a huge problem when it comes to speeds, and it even MY PREVIOUS TECHNICIAN said "The live Agents/Phone Agents are basically a SCAM, by offering the XB8 with huge speed plans, and the lack of ability they had when it came to troubleshooting." Seriously! He said this, and then requested that I don't leave him a bad review, which I'm not, it's not his fault that Xfinity Limits him from using proper or better tools than just a mobile device to test signals..

Hey there, @TragicOrNa. Our team can definitely understand how stressful and irritating it is to have issues with your internet connection. We all work from home on this end of the screen so we can completely relate to how it causes you to make arrangements that you didn't expect. The best option for the most reliant connection type is always going to be ethernet. There are access points you can add within the home to provide devices the ability to connect through an ethernet cable. That being said, it is not required, just recommended.

It sounds like there are some signal issues going on within the home if everything on WiFi is experiencing a connection issue. To isolate the connection problem we request multiple devices are tested and the ability to test both types of connections, WiFi and wired. One of our forum experts has put together an awesome resource for troubleshooting tips that I would strongly recommend taking a look for educational purposes as well as finding some information that may assist with identifying the issue. Let us know what the results of the upcoming technicnan's appointment yield and if you're still experiencing issues we can assist with troubleshooting from our end.

I really do not think you are going to resolve your issues if you continue with the XB8.  I was talked into the XB8 because I was mysteriously exceeding the monthly data cap.  In order to not pay the extra $30/month for unlimited, I accepted the plan where XF provides the modem and router, via the XB8.  In the past I had always used my own modem and router.

Bottom line is I have reverted to using my 6 year old ASUS router as it has much better speed and range for WiFi.  The XB8 is set in bridge mode.  Xfinity makes band splitting very difficult as they want to use the band steering function in the XB8, which in theory is fine but their implementation seems to create issues rather than resolve them.

I believe you stated you have tried another router, but I would give that a go again, making sure XB8 is in bridge mode.
