Internet speed and IP

Hi, For about the last month to month and a half Ive been having problems with my download speed. I pay for performance plus (175 bps) In this time I have been consistently getting download speeds of less than 2 mbps. I have tried troubleshooting and have found no help. Today I did a speed check at a site called IOstatistics.com. It showed the same results. But this site also shows the IP address and name of the provider, I found this situation, which seemed odd to me and am looking for help:  the IP is 209.58.133.173 and the name of the provider is listed as Leaseweb USA, Inc.

I have never heard of this provider and I have Comcast Xfinity. I'm wondering why my IP would not be Comcast. Any help out there?

What device are you using for the test?  Are you using WiFi?  Do other sites for testing speeds or identifying your internet IP address show the same originating address?

Joe,

Thanks for the help. I'm using my PC for the test on my wifi. I can't use and ethernet cable because my computer is in one room and the modem and router are in a completely different room. I've tried other speed test sites with the same result, but none of them give the IP address or name.

I checked that link and it still says Leaseweb USA, Inc.

What is providing your WiFi signal?  Sure sounds like it is not a device connected to the Xfinity modem.

Can you do a traceroute to speedtest.xfinity.com and post it here?

C:>tracert speedtest.xfinity.com
Tracing route to cdn.speedtest-prod.xcr.comcast.net [69.252.62.242]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms XXX [192.168.1.1]
2 14 ms 12 ms 13 ms 96.120.70.69
3 13 ms 11 ms 11 ms 68.85.186.97
4 25 ms 39 ms 22 ms 96.110.23.5
5 22 ms 21 ms 21 ms 96.108.44.222
6 21 ms 21 ms 18 ms cdn-ec-bos-346.needham.ma.boston.comcast.net [69.252.62.242]

Trace complete.
