Internet repeatedly going in and out

For the past five days, the internet has been dropping erratically several times during the day. I've reset the gateway, unplugged and checked all the wires, blew the dust out of wherever I could, reset the modem again and checked the wires again... Resetting the modem eventually lets the internet come back online and then we can get wireless, and then sometimes it just comes back on its own after 15 or so minutes or so, again, it's erratic. I don't see any reports of outages in the area. What on Earth could be going on? I work from home and remoting into my office, and this cuts me off completely.

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.

What is the exact make and model number of the modem / gateway device ?

Neither of those pages are able to load, either on my phone or on my desktop. The gateway is an XB-7, CGM4331COM.

The gateway is showing a steady white light on the front. Just a moment ago the Wi-Fi was showing a signal strength of excellent and I was connected to my my VPN at work on my desktop. But then the Wi-Fi said once again that it couldn't connect to the internet, which is where things stand right now. I appreciate any help you might give, and in the meantime I'm going to go ahead and once again unplug and reset the modem.

Hmmm. That second address should work. Have you tried manually typing it into the browser's address bar ? Is this with a WiFi connection ? If so, you may have to connect the computer directly to the with an ethernet cable and try again. If none of that works, you may want to try hard resetting it to factory defaults by pressing and holding in the recessed reset button on the rear (or use the WPS button if it doesn't have a reset button hole) for 30 seconds. This can sometimes clear up some odd behavior problems. The user name and the password will now become the defaults of admin and password. And you will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch.

I went through all of that and more, unplugging and cleaning and resetting the lines, resetting the modem via the app, full factory reset like you suggested... Nothing was having any effect on the internet continuing to go in and out, but the wireless still working normally. I finally got in touch with Xfinity, and asked for a technician to come out next week. A few hours after that they called back, saying that it had been elevated to one of their advanced teams and they had looked into it, and that there had actually been interruptions to the service coming from Xfinity that they had noticed, and that they had fixed it and there shouldn't be any more issues. So far everything has been as they said, so I guess and hope that I'm going to call this issue closed. Thank you for your help and suggestions, I appreciate your work!
