Internet only wifi printer and camera

Since going to internet only with xfinty my printer will not print until I unplug my modem then it prints. This happens with each printing session. Xfinty assist is not helpful more of a problem

Good afternoon @Billygx and thank you for reaching out on our Community forums regarding your WiFi issues with your printer. We'd be happy to see how we can help further. Are you having any WiFi issues with any other devices in your home or is it just the printer? May I also ask if you have tried restarting the printer? What model of printer are you using?

@XfinityAlyssaA

yes, a wifi camera. When it goes offline the only way it connects is I have to unplug modem. The refresh don’t allow it to reconnect. The printer is a HP office jet 8028e. I also have some issues with my xfinity mobile as I have to be on wifi for my phone to work in my apartment.

@Billygx How many devices do you typically have connected at the same time, and what is the speed tier you currently have? Did you know you can use the Xfinity app to check on your whole home network health and troubleshoot connectivity issues?

The Xfinity xFi
Internet Health features make it easy to check on your whole home network including the speed of the Xfinity Internet to your xFi Gateway and the connection strength of your connected devices. The tests determine if your home is getting healthy internet speeds and the types of activities your WiFi signal can support.

  1. Sign in to the Xfinity app with your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. Select WiFi from the bottom of the app.
  3. Select Run a test.
  4. On the Full Network Test tile, select Run a Test.
    • You can also get to this section by selecting View WiFi equipment from the WiFi tab. Then, select Internet Health.

xFi customers that don't see the Full Network Test tile on Internet Health will instead see the Speed to Gateway tile or Speed to Device tile. Let us know the results.

Yes. I do that all the time. It says everything looks good and strong wifi. But this is not true. I’ve had the same devices since having xfinity. But once I went to internet only things changed. Same speed nternet speed also.

Going to internet only should not change your settings. What services did you have before?

@Billygx Have you attempted to remove the printer from your network and then reconnect it? A fresh connection may resolve the issue. Connecting a wireless printer to Wi-Fi lets you print from any computer, phone, or tablet that's on your home network.

  1. Go to the printer's control panel.
  2. Choose the Setup option. It usually has a picture of a wrench.
  3. Select the Network menu.
  4. Select your WiFi network name (your printer may call this an "SSID").
    • Printers often have a Wireless Setup Wizard that walks you through setting up the WiFi connection.
    • If you don't see your wireless network, scroll to the bottom of the list and type your network name and password.
    • If it doesn't connect, try printing a wireless network test report.

Note: Check your printer's user guide for any special troubleshooting steps, security settings and detailed instructions.
