Internet, Games pausing every few minutes, etc...
Since early december, The game I play has had issues. I will have weird Lag spikes, and the game itself will pause for 2 to 3 seconds at random times. Roku stream will pause/freeze, kids are saying they have lag in their games. One is hard wired to the router, and the other is wireless. This can be at 10am in the morning, 4pm, 8pm, or even 3am in the morning when all the traffic is pretty darn free!
I did a winmtr and found out that my wireless connection (Nighthawk triband, r8000 router). Come to find out that my wireless connection will get 1-4% packet losses depending on the days. 1% is usually at the computer to router. Then 2-4% is along the pathway to texas comast backbone etc etc etc. Ive also seen that there are latency issues at times of 1000-3000 but on average where Im pinging is 30-50ms access time which is what I would expect. I do have -30DB and its have a excellent signal where the testing is happening.
I've reset everything, flushed DNS , reconfigged IP adresses, you name it. Ive switched over to dynamic QOS and tried to label things as HIGH and HIGHEST priority and low for things like outlet switches, appliances, etc. I could only get so far on that because my router is stupid and wont save the conifgs for QOS(known problems with this router).
I also downloaded a wifi analyzer on my phone. There are sooooo many access points from xfinity around me that all the channels have between 8-11 Acess points on those channels. The lower channels more so than the Higher channels. I have moved my 2.4ghz to the least populated channel (although I do not care, as 2.4ghz are on least priority devices. Yes.. I also did try my games and did winmtr test with while on the 2.4ghz and still have the same issues) I cannot do a winmtr test on my Phone 4glte hotspot as the personal cellspot utilizes my router so it wouldn't give me an accurate idea since it is the same internet service roughly. I cannot use the cell tower signal cause it is terrible and I can barely log in, so any test will be for naught. I have a work wifi that I can try it on, and have, but that connection is worse, it always disconnects and reconnects so that test is for naught as well.
Try to get a tech out? Thats a joke. been over 1 month and I haven't been able to. 2 cancellations, Last one, after I called again, said it wasn't even scheduled. That was today from 8-10am. They also said there is some filter issue outside of the home that is affecting multiple houses in the area.
If I wasn't flying out tomorrow morning to go work for 6 days I would drive to microcenter, or even a bestbuy to purchase a router and through it on. One preferably with wifi6 to isolate my network would could provide a Better barrior from signal interference, etc.
Im at a loss, Im getting frustrated. As with most, we are homeschooling our children and with multiple kids on the internet, interruptions could and can be frustrating or problematic.
If anyone has an idea, I would be glad to try it out! Thank you

From what I have read, in a crowded environment, you want to set the bandwidth setting on your WiFi bands to the low setting, it will help with the over lapping of your neighbors WiFi, it will sacrifice some speed but be more stable, just a thought

Whats funny is I live in a suburb. one house to my right about 10 feet away, a semi major street behind me, I live on a corner, so I have a street between the left house and the house in front of me. It is lame that the house that is closest on my right, had 3-4 renters(college students sharing it appears. This is probably the demise) moved in, and when im upstairs in my bedroom their DB level is equal to my router. Leaving right now, but will do that soon. Thank you very much for the idea!
