Internet drops hourly

We have been with Xfinity for about 6 years. My company relocated us so they had Xfinity in my apartment. Now we live here in our own home and have had xfinity since. Recently our bill went way up. So we worked with xfinity to get a reasonable rate. Which meant getting our own xfiniry approved modem (Netgear Nighthawk). Since then, every night we watch some streaming show on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or the like, the show simply stops streaming at random times. The little swirling circle in the middle of the screen. We can switch from 2.4 to 5, restart the modem, or restart the fireTv and everything works again for another hour or so. I’ve tried working with xfinity, Amazon, and Netgear and simply cannot resolve this problem. We even have brand new cable from the pole outside to the modem.
I’m just frustrated with this. I’m in a contract but I am ready to accept the termination fee and get another provider if I can’t get this fixed.

For a test, does a computer hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?
