internet data usage breakdown

Hi,

I would like a daily breakdown of internet data. It is very challenging to find out / triage the root cause of spike when comcast sends out a data usage about to exceeded email but only provides monthly breakdown. I would assume that it is a small feature to build and will help customers a lot.  I am not sure if this is already built as I could not find a way to get a daily breakdown.

Comcast has this data, but few reps seem to have access to it, or perhaps they just don't know where to find it. Customers have been asking for access to daily data for many years, but the company does not appear to be willing to provide it. For all practical purposes, the only way to track daily usage is by checking the Usage Meter reading every day.

I don't know how useful a daily breakdown would be anyway.  They claim their reporting is "up to" 24 hours off anyway, and it won't tell you which device(s) did it.  There is gear that can.  Throttle data too on pig devices.  Both consumer/proprietary and open-source.

At this time, only the monthly used is currently available, but we will be more than happy to pass along your feedback to possibly adding a daily view in the future. 

 

There are some third-party devices you can use that could assist you in tracking the data usage, but depending on the services, it can vary as data used on X1 set-top box for Internet enabled features would count for data usage and other applications. The data would also be delayed up to 24 hours as mentioned by @flatlander3
