Intermittent WAN drops + high error rate on specific downstream channels (owned modem, need line/signal investigation)
Hi, I'm hoping to get this escalated to someone who can look at line-level diagnostics, since front-line chat support hasn't been able to help beyond basic troubleshooting.
Issue: Intermittent connection drops, roughly every 30 minutes at their worst, that are breaking a work VPN tunnel. I own my modem (Netgear Nighthawk, DOCSIS 4.0), so I understand standard support can't service the modem hardware itself — but this appears to be a line/WAN issue on your end, not a modem or home-network problem.
What I've found so far:
1. Two downstream channels with abnormally high error rates compared to all others, despite normal power/SNR:
- Channel 27 (459 MHz): 625 correctables / 1200 uncorrectables
- Channel 32 (489 MHz): 1340 correctables / 4257 uncorrectables
(All other channels are in the 60-80 correctable / ~300 uncorrectable range, with SNR ~44 dB and power near 0 dBmV across the board — so this looks like narrowband interference/ingress noise at those specific frequencies, not a general signal problem.)
2. Modem event log shows repeated T3 time-outs and SYNC Timing Synchronization failures on multiple separate days, plus an unprompted modem reset (docsDevResetNow) that I did not initiate.
3. My employer's IT team independently monitored the VPN tunnel from their side during a live session and confirmed brief "No network interface available" / "No Network Connectivity" events at the WAN level — occurring even when the connection was on IPv4, ruling out a protocol-stack issue on my end.
I've already ruled out on my end: home network config (no double-NAT, modem is bridge-less by design), WiFi encryption/band settings, DHCP/client steering settings, and IPv6 dual-stack behavior (confirmed and mitigated locally, but drops persist).
Could someone from the technical escalation team take a look at line/plant conditions for my account, particularly around the two channels above? Happy to provide full channel tables or log exports. Thanks in advance.
