Intermittent Packet Loss, 1000ms+ Latency Spikes, and In-Game Packet Loss
Hello,
For the past week I've been experiencing intermittent packet loss and latency spikes on my Xfinity connection.
The issue is most noticeable while gaming and using voice chat. In Battlefield 6 I regularly see packet loss spikes of 7-10%, and Discord voice chat will occasionally cut out at the same time.
The issue occurs frequently throughout the day, sometimes every few minutes. The connection may appear normal, and then suddenly I experience packet loss, a latency spike, or a brief interruption before everything returns to normal.
I've already had two technician visits. The first technician replaced my modem with an XB8 gateway. The second technician performed multiple tests but was unable to find a problem while he was here.
I've also reproduced the issue on both my desktop PC and a separate laptop, including when connected directly to the modem, which leads me to believe the problem is not isolated to a single device.
I have been monitoring the connection with PingPlotter and noticed occasional packet loss reaching the final destination. For comparison, my brother, who also has Xfinity and lives about 20 minutes away, ran the same PingPlotter test to the same destination and his connection showed 0% packet loss, while mine showed intermittent packet loss and occasional dropped packets reaching the destination.
Thank you.
