Intermittent Connection Drops Affecting Counter-Strike 2
I have continued to experience intermittent connectivity issues specifically while playing CS2. The issue presents as follows:
CS2 disconnects or lags out for 2–5 seconds, then resumes normally
This occurs roughly once every few hours, seemingly at random, but can occur at higher rates
Other internet usage, including streaming and browsing, is seemingly unaffected
Other online games I play do not show similar issues
- Issue began occur the day I moved and started using Xfinity
- Continuous ping test to Google DNS in CMD shows occasional drops/disconnect
Troubleshooting done so far:
Tested both Wi-Fi and Ethernet
Verified that my PC and personal hardware work properly on other networks
ISP speed and connectivity tests report no issues
Rebooted gateway multiple times
- Tried Port Forwarding for CS2 - no change, lag persists
- Changed from Xfinity DNS to Google DNS servers
2 technicians have inspected hardware and reported no issues.
- The second specialized technician later called me back saying he found an issue that could be causing the problem but the local infrastructure was operated/maintained by a different company. He said he put in a work order for the issue to be fixed but it may take up to a month. It has been several months and the issue persists.
