Instagram not loading only on Xfinity gateway router on pixel 3

I recently switched to Xfinity and have been facing an issue where Instagram simply doesn't load (blurry images and videos). I tried reinstalling the app, restarting the phone, resetting the networks on phone, restarting the router but nothing has worked so far. Instagram however works perfectly while on my mobile data (att) and of other public or private wifi that is not Xfinity. I have seen many android users facing similar issues but couldn't find any workaround or solution to this issue.

@user_4776ab  here is an awesome link on troubleshooting your Wi-Fi internet connection https://comca.st/3Iq2Glp, when it comes to social media  apps that are not uncommon that they work  better via data at times, as your Wi-Fi connection all depends on how many devices are connected, other devices running such as microwaves or cordless phones, how the home is built, placement of the modem

@XfinityOrlandoM

Tried everything nothing works. Instagram works perfectly on other wifi which is not Xfinity. Also, another phone iPhone 11 connected to my home Xfinity doesn't have any issue with Instagram (loads perfectly and no blurry images). I have come to the following conclusions based on my observations.

1) The issue seems to be specific only with my home Xfinity network (haven't tried connecting to Xfinity outside my home though)

2) I am seeing this issue only on my pixel 3a phone and not on iPhone

Resetting the modem or the phone hasn't worked. Other applicants are working fine. Sometimes I see a similar issue with Whatsapp as well. Sometimes I will not be able to download images sent to my pixel phone. Have to switch to mobile network to download the image. Based on this

3) Is there an issue where Xfinity fails to connect to meta servers properly to retain the image data? Not a network person just guessing based on the issues I have been having

Hello there; good afternoon! Thank you for your patience while awaiting our response. As of right now, we are not aware of any specific issues like that, regarding the Meta data, but if you'd like, we would be more than happy to investigate this further, by performing some tests on your service equipment. Our Digital Care Team is here to help, every step of the way! Even though this sounds like it's specific to the device, I think it would still be a good idea to check on the network, to make sure everything's been up to par.

Can you please send us a private message, including your full name, and your full address? You can do so, by clicking on the chat icon, in the top right-hand corner of your screen, and once you click on that icon, you should be able to search "Xfinity Support", which should then give you the ability to send us a message. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Hello,

I'm having the exact same issue with Instagram on 2 phones. Both Android, one is Samsung and the other is Motorola.
All speed and device tests conducted through the Xfinity app look great. I have done a reset on the gateway as well.
On Instagram itself I have cleared cache, cleared storage, uninstalled, and reinstalled the app twice. It will be ok for some time and then just stop loading altogether when connected to my Xfinity home wifi. It works fine on data.
I have not noticed any pattern to when it decides to stop working, but the problem definitely started 2 weeks ago immediately after I switched to Xfinity, set up my new equipment, and got connected to it.

Gateway Details...
Model: CGM44331COM

Vendor: Technicolor

Revision: 2.0

Phone details...
Device: Moto G 5G (2022)

SIM: Google Fi

Android Version: 12

Instagram App Details...

Installation: Through Google Play Store

Version: 255.1.0.17.102

Any further investigation that can be done on your end would be very much appreciated, this issue is extremely aggravating and inconvenient.

Thank you.

I've been searching high and low for a solution. Have tried everything ...and I mean everything and after reading article after article and seeing that I only have this issue when I'm on my wifi at home, like everyone else having this problem,  it's definitely an xfinity issue.

The only time the app works on my home Xfinity wifi is after I clear the apps data cache, and it only works once. Once I close the app and re open, same issue.

I'm going to keep searching and hope someone has found a fix because all I'm finding here is people with all types of devices having the same issue and threads getting closed without a fix.

Update: Very recently I switched to pixel 6 and still have the same issue!!! I have been having this issue where Instagram simply doesn't load MOST OF THE TIME (It does work rarely at times even without me reinstalling the app). All of my other applications are working fine including Facebook and WhatsApp. Also, Iphone 11 connected to the same wifi still works well without any problem. I have reset the modem and the phone's network connection (even tried changing to 2.4 Ghz) but the issue still persists. Reinstalling the app fixes the bug but lasts only for a few minutes. However, I could use Instagram on chrome without any issues. Almost 3 months since I posted and still no solution? I definitely think it's not the Instagram app issue as it loads perfectly while on any other network. Is Xfinity blocking the information transfer to and from the app?

Thank you for the update. I can understand how this can get bothersome after some time. We do not block apps from loading on specific devices, and since we did not develop the app, and everything else is checking out, have you reached out to Instagram to see if they have a solution? Do you see any error messages, does the app load, or press the icon, and nothing happens?

@XfinityBrandon

Thanks for the reply. The issue automatically got fixed now. I really don't know what was leading to the aforementioned issue prior. Instagram app has been working fine for several weeks on my android phone (pixel 6) now!
