Inconsistent responses and time out

I have used MacBooks, iPads and iPhones with my xfinity internet service for years and overall everything is good. In the past six months or so, I have begun having more and more frequent "failed to load" and "timed out" messages from all kinds of sites (IMDB, SyFy, cooking .com, even Home Depot and Lowe's. There seems to be no pattern as to when this might happen and it has happened on all devices at various times. I have run all the speed tests offered via Xfinity and a couple of others as well. WiFi connectivity seems stable with a few areas of 3 bar strength in my home, but that is also not associated with the problem. I have not received any warnings,, but is there some kind of security setting that could be leading to this problem(which is getting more common)

"help me, help me"

Be also advised that would not be a true test, down load a good quality wifi signal app than run the signal test though the xFi app

because the test signal that they get is from the line going into the house and back out, than to another state out west.

this is how they get people to buy into upgrades.

@boogieman222

For a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

With this test, we are trying to isolate this from being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step of troubleshooting before we proceed any further.

I’m not an expert but do believe that if it is ported into the modem I do not think you will have this problem since it directed through the modem and is getting a direct signal, wifi is a broadcast of the signal and if your modem is behind other electrical components and not in a clear open area such as on the floor beside a wall you will get a stronger signal and or you can buy wall wifi extenders or signal boosters to help transmit upstairs if that is the case as well, and another issue is the amount of traffic around your house such being in a city compared to a suburban area. Start with moving the modem if you have behind your tv or near other elements of electric,
