Incoming Connections to Port 22 (from Cellular Data) being blocked ? Port 22 not-reachable.
Hello,
In the last few weeks I am no longer able to access my home via remote SSH logins to Port 22 (i.e. from my Andoird phone using Cellular Data). For the last few years I was indeed able to use SSH to Port 22 to access my home. Coincidentally, my Reolink security camera is also no longer able to be accessed using the Reolink App over Cellular Connection (i.e. if I go on vacation). All these used to work just fine up until a few weeks ago. My home network is as follows and here are steps I took for troubleshooting:
- My own Arris SB6183
- My own Linksys E8450 Router (or Netgear R6250) --> port forwarding to SSH 22 to Linux Desktop
- One Linux Desktop machine (where SSH service is located on)
- One Windows 10 laptop for web-browsing
For troubleshooting, I removed Router and Windows laptop and simply plugged in the Linux machine into the Arris modem directly. Also disabled UFW Firewall and Fail2Ban. Still Port 22 is not reachable. Using CanYouSeeMe.org shows that Port 22 Request Timed Out.
I have called Customer Service and asked "Are incoming IPs to Port 22 being blocked due to Bots, Spams, etc etc... ? " The agent(s) responded with "No, we don't block Port 22". I then called the Customer Assurance Department/Abuse and asked if my Account has some "Security Profile" active on it and they said that they don't know what I am asking :(
So...whom do I talk to and ask the following: "Please confirm that incoming IPs to my Port 22 are being blocked or not being blocked, espeically Cellular IPs ?"
Thank you kindly!
Now, the important thing to understand is that my little home network setup above worked flawlessy for many years. All of a sudden SSH Port 22 is no longer reachable...something must have changed.

Hello and thanks for reaching out @zsoltbalint. We do not block port 22, but we do block port 25. Since you are using your own equipment, will you double-check your equipment settings to make sure it did not get selected to be blocked by accident?
