First. Check their site here for official info on any possible local outages;
https://www.xfinity.com/support/status
Use a cell phone internet service, a public WiFi hotspot, or a neighbor's internet if you need to in order to check it.
Or you can use their Xfinity App: https://www.xfinity.com/apps

In addition to the response from EG, please be aware that calling the support number during a known outage will serve no purpose. Tech support, located in India, cannot tell you how long it will be out for, cannot do anything to fix the outage, or anything else. I believe that if you call from an area with a known outage, the system will automatically block you from speaking to support. Also know that *ALL* ISPs have outages. If you do work from home, you should have an unlimited data account on a 5G phone to use during outages. You can use the hotspot feature of your phone. Just be aware of the fine print in your data plan on the phone. Most ISPs offer unlimited data on cellular, but throttles it after you reach their limit. If your phone plan does this, once you reach your unthrottled limit, you may not be able to accomplish all you need to do with a throttled connection. In general, if you use your phone as a backup for your internet, you should get a business plan that does not throttle.
