I'm unable to connect to a specific website due to timeout.

I have Xfinity Superfast  internet, with my own cable modem(Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1) and switch/router (Linksys WRT1900AC).  I'm hosting Wordpress site on my web hosting company (not locally) and after completing a vulnerability scan on my site using wpscan.  I'm no longer able to access the site from my home network even after restarting my computers, router and modem.   I can connect via my cell network(T-Mobile).  I know someone  out of state on Spectrum's internet that can access the site.  Another person with internet service from AT&T was able to pull up the website.  But I get a connection timeout.  I get the timeout if I use the FQDN or the IP address.  I verified my home IP (in which I cannot connect) was not blacklisted by my hosting company.  I am able to successfully complete a name server lookup.  But when I run a trace route I only get (*) after the 10th hop.  Is there some blacklist or other mechanism that Comcast uses to prevent me from accessing this site?   And can it be modified to allow me back access?

...  I get a connection timeout ...

  • If your router has a "clone MAC" or "use this MAC" feature, use it to change its WAN MAC address. Then reboot the modem and the router. That should cause Comcast's DHCP server to assign an different public IP. Or:
  • Switch to a different router if you have one. Or:
  • If your computer has an Ethernet port, for a test connect it directly to the modem. Then, as above, reboot the modem and when it has stabilized, reboot the computer.

After doing one of the above check to see if your public IP has changed, and see if you can connect to the site.

@BruceW I will try these steps... and report back the results I receive with a new IP address.

I found an old unused Linkys switch/router(BEFW11S4) I have lying around.  I powered off my cable modem, and used the clone MAC address option in my current switch/router (Linksys WRT1900AC) to enter in the older MAC address.  I turned on cable modem back on and verified I have a new IP address and access was restored.

Thanks!

Need to see the IP addresses / hostnames / geo ID'S of router hops. Not just the response times..

The IP addresses listed in the first nine lines are the only one that returned from he traceroutes call.  I added the domain names to the IP that had one.  According to  mtr --report step #5 and s#10 had 100% loss of the ICMP packets.  As far as the GEO ID'S I got the GEO ID of the last reported IP address(50.248.118.102) of the traceroute:

IP Geolocation

City Chicago
State Illinois
Country United States
Postal 60666
Local time 11:02 PM, Monday, April 15, 2024
Timezone America/Chicago
Coordinates 41.8500,-87.6500

It's reported to be a Comcast IP address:

ASN AS7922 - Comcast Cable Communications, LLC
Hostname No Hostname
Range 50.128.0.0/9
Company Comcast Cable Communications, LLC
Hosted domains 0

... I'm no longer able to access the site from my home network ...

I can reach the site. When one customer cannot reach a site but others can, it can mean the site is blocking that customer's public Comcast IP. You can look up your IP at https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+my+IP. You may need to ask the site's admins for help with this.

My trace in Windows looks like:

C>tracert -4 inspiredguidance.org

@BruceW Hey, thanks for responding.  I checked with the hosting company and they said my IP wasn't blocked... I asked for proof and they sent a screenshot (sorry this forum don't support image uploads).  And since I don't have the xFi Gateway which auto bans sites, and I have a WRT 1900AC which requires explicitly entering in blocked sites (which I didn't, and I validated parental controls are off), there has to be a blockage outside my home and outside the site.  Which leaves my ISP.  Does anyone know if there is a way to check Comcast blocked my access?
