I switched my Arris SBG6900-AC to bridge mode to use with my new TP-Link Archer A8 router but now can't get IP address from modem?

Hi,

I'm using my own Arris SBG6900-AC modem/router with Xfinity and I had it working as a router but I purchased a TP-Link Archer A8 router because I want to setup "one mesh" network in my house.  I followed the following steps for Arris to change to "bridge mode" so it doesn't act as a router but now I'm not able to get an IP to my TP-Link router.

https://arris.secure.force.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SBG6900-AC-v1-5-x-Bridge-Mode-Setup

Within my TP-Link router web interface, I tried to clone the MAC address from my modem and I have WAN connection setup as "Dynamic IP" but I've been reading online that some people have had success changing this to "PPPoE" but then I would need a username/password from Xfinity to use this method.

Is there anything else I can try to get my WAN IP address to get sent to my TP-Link router?

Thank you!

Welcome to our community forum, @Dali748! I rely on my internet every day for work so I know it's important to have a connection. If you connect directly to the modem via ethernet are you able to connect to the internet? Have you tried factory resetting the modem by holding down the reset button with a pin for 30 seconds and using these instructions to set up bridge mode and see if you can get the new router to work?

Yes, by connecting directly to the modem via ethernet cable with my laptop I'm able to get internet.

I actually finally got this to work, I did a couple more power cycles with the modem and it finally issued the WAN IP to my router.
