I need to change my IP address

I am using an Xfinity Gateway and my ip was recently leaked online. I'd like to change it for personal security reasons, but finding a human to talk to about this has been impossible.

If I can't get my ip changed, I'll have to switch to another provider.

Unplugging my Gateway for hours hasn't changed anything

Since you're using a rental Comcast device, they do not provide a way to change the IP address, and they won't change it for you, so you'd have to:

swap out the gateway for another, or
place the gateway in bridge mode and connect a Wifi router, or
replace your gateway with customer-owned equipment

Will I be charged for a gateway swap? If so, how much? And how seamless will it be to swap my old devices onto the new Gateway?

user_i9ntgj There is not a charge exchanging a Xfinity Gateway modem. There is a possible shipping charge if the new device is sent out by mail, but there would be no charges for changing out the devide in a store location. Please let us know if you have any other questions we can help with.
