I have an internet only account, why do I have to agree to have my payment method stored?

For almost 4 years now I've been able to pay for my internet only Xfinity account without needing to store my payment information. Now, there's apparently no way to pay without accepting a Terms and Conditions policy that is also combined with Store Payment check box. Um, I don't have Xfinity Mobile, where payment storage makes sense, just internet, so what gives? Am I now required to store my card information on Xfinity's servers? That is not happening as there's no way you can guarantee my card information won't be exposed in case of a system breach.

I hope this is some kind of web-page glitch, but I suspect that it's not. Unfortunate, as it will absolutely result in the cancellation of my account. I can get fiber at my home in under 3 weeks.

Fingers crossed for some kind of resolution.

Concern moved here to the Billing help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_04i7sz I can understand the frustration with storing a credit/debit card or bank account online. There was a new payment system placed recently for better security measures, but I do understand your concern and preference not to save these details.

Thank you for your response, frustrating as it is, for it obviously begs the question 'better security measures' for whom? Certainly not me, for previously stated reasons

Oh well, far be it from me to tell a multi-billion dollar entity how to run their business.

All I can do is vote with my wallet, such as it is (which is a rounding error, of a rounding error, of merely the churn block).

Again, I thank you for your direct response, and for what was heretofore rather solid and dependable service.

Best of luck.

user_04i7sz I do understand the aprehension to store the information on file. The better security measures are more so in reference to the new payment system offers better security options than the previous one. We require the stored payment method also in part because of the ease for our customer's to make their payments without reentering their information every time and it makes refunds much faster and convnient when we need to issue them. One option for people that don't want to store their main information is you can store a card you don't use and still make one time payments with your preferred payment method manually. But we do understand your concerns.
