Hue Bridge and Xfinity Gateway not working together

I have the XFI Gateway and a Hue Bridge 2.  Trying to get them to work together.  I plugged my Hue Bridge 2 into the back of the gateway and it is not working.  I need to get the Hue Bridge connected to the gateway in order to run the Hue Lights in the house through the app.  I use the Gateway to run the internet and for the wireless TV boxes, so putting the gateway into bridge mode is not a good option for me.  Is anyone aware of a solution for this problem?  Both Xfinity and Philips have had good suggestions but no solutions.

Can you use a switch out of the back of the gateway and then plug in the Hue Bridge to the switch?

That's only if it is in bridge mode. It's not a straight cable modem. It's a combo modem / router gateway device.

I stand corrected, I had a Xb6  and for some reason I thought I read that somewhere

@RP009 Your comcast modem/router should work like anyother router. To connect the HUE bridge, is just like connecting any other device to a router. Connect it to a free port, and the other end to the HUE bridge. If you are using the comcast modem/router as a bridge to your personal router, then it has to hook up to your personal router.

I'm having the same issue. Hue bridge won't connect. Everything else- TV, wireless - is fine. I've trouble shot the ports, they work with other cables. I've troubleshot the cable and switched it out with a cable I know is good. The light on the back of the xfinity gateway stays orange no matter what port or cable I use.

Same issue, hue bridge won't connect after plugged into the ether net port. Troubleshooted both ports, cables, and restarted both devices.
