How to upgrade router when you don't have a cell phone with a data plan?

I just got the new white router.  And as I understand it, I'm supposed to use the Xfinity app to help me set up the new equipment.  But if I disconnect the old router, I won't have any access to the internet (my cell phone and tablet are wi-fi only -- no data plan).  So how will this app work without internet access?  I'll call Xfinity tomorrow during business hours before I start this, but just in case someone else already went through this, I'd love to know beforehand how to do this.  I want to set the thing up with all my current parameters -- names and passwords -- so I don't have to reconfigure a million devices around the house.

@eastmoreland You first and foremost need to get it activated / provisioned for service.

Connect it to the coax line and power it up. Let it fully sync up with the system, and check that the front panel indicator lights are steadily lit.

Then connect a computer to it and open up a browser. You *may* see their *Walled Garden* modem self registration page. If so, follow the screen prompts. Have your mobile telephone number, your Xfinity username and password, or the account number and telephone number associated with your Comcast account handy.

If not, try calling 1-855-652-3446. That is their device activation line.

If that doesn't work for you, you can call 1-800-comcast and tell a rep that you would like to have a new modem provisioned for service. Have the RF / CM / HFC MAC address and the serial number of it handy when you call.

I am not sure if this will work or not, maybe try to connect to a Xfinity hotspot for internet access, one that isn’t yours, just a thought

@jlavaseur Thanks. I've thought of that.  But there doesn't seem to be a hotspot in range of my house.

Maybe a neighbor can set you a guest access on their WiFi for a few minutes, my neighbors are cool like that.  Or maybe a friend can set a hotspot on their phone for a few minutes
