How to setup xfinity gateway and TP-link Splitter

Hi,

I recently added ethernet wall ports to my house by incorporating a network switch TP-LINK 8-Port Gigabit desktop switch TL-SG1008D. When I try to connect a computer to any of the ethernet ports I just installed, the computer sees the ethernet port as "Unidentified Network No Internet" I have tried connecting multiple computers, restarting the gateway, restarting the switch, and plugging the switch into multiple ethernet ports. I've also plugged a laptop into an ethernet port on the gateway to verify that I can still hardline in there and it works fine.

Right now the configuration of my network is Coax into Gateway > wireless network that works okay (i think I have interference with neighbors and not sure how to fix since the settings are being managed automatically)> 1 ethernet cable goes from the gateway into a switch> switch cables go to 2 different rooms where I need fast internet. Everything works except for the ports that are being plugged into switch.

I would love help getting the switch to work and I suspect its some setting the gateway settings.

TL-SG1008D is just an unmanaged switch, so there isn't any configuration, and that one doesn't look like it has an uplink port you have to use.  In theory, they're all the same, but try port 1 for the gateway-to-switch.  MDI / MDIX auto negotiation can get confused with crossover cables sometimes too, so just regular Ethernet cable (cat 5 or cat 6) ought to work.

Cabling is the prime suspect.  Try two different Ethernet cables (gateway to switch), and switch to something like a laptop just to see if the switch works.  If it does, then the other cables going to your rooms are suspect.  Cheap Ethernet cable testers are $10 on amazon too, and kind of useful to have around even if you rarely use them.

You can use a multi-meter too to check continuity.  Straight through cables if you are going to make them:
