How to override the wonky DNS
Hello all,
I've been constantly suffering the wonky DNS service that Xfinity provides, especially during this special pendamic situation. At random time of the day I can only connect to a handful of websites including Google and Youtube, which I conclude to be a DNS issue
Here's what I've tried to fix this:
1. I have my own modem/router (NetGear C3700-100NAS), I tried to set DNS in its setting to Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)
2. I have also tried to force DNS in my PC's network setting
However both way when I do nslookup, it still shows Default Server cdns01.comcast.net
Appretiate any suggestion/thoughts, thank you in advance.

Thank you for replying, but as mentioned I'm using my own modem. I was finally able to identify the reason, the default DNS that was preventing me from using Google DNS was the IPv6 DNS, swaped it to Google IPv6 (2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.) and now it is showing Google everywhere

You can't if you are using a Comcast supplied gateway device. You can't even override it in the individual network client devices because their gateways no longer act as DNS forwarders /relays.
