How to keep the same ip address

I work for a company where you have to keep the same ip address. For almost the last three years I have had the same ip address and now all of a sudden it has changed. I thought when I purchased a no ip account that is what is stopping the ip from changing but they just told me it is my internet provider that controls that. Can you help ,e get the ip address bac and to stay?

xfinity no longer assigns static IP address to home users.  You will need a business account to get a static IP.  There are 'rumors' that in some locations xfinity will still give you a static IP on a home account, but they are rare.  You are assigned an IP address from the pool of available IP address on your node.  It is assigned to the first wan device connected to the feed.  Your device is scheduled to release and renew it's IP address on a regular schedule.  Many times you will get the same IP address if there are sufficient available IP address for subscribers on your node. Occasionally, during the process, 'your' IP address may get taken by another device that is releasing/renewing in the same time frame as yours.  You will have to call xfinity and see if they can do anything to help, or whether you have to switch to a business account.  Good Luck.

The concern is not "E-mail" help related. Thread moved here to the proper help section for assistance.
