How to fix Your MS Surface Pro Connection

We had the same problem as everyone else here, we tried multiple things to connect our MS Surface Pro to our new Xfinity Gateway Modem. We got lucky when we called Xfinity, we got the right agent who happen to have the same problem with his sons computer. Here are the steps to fix your connection:

open the Xfinity app

go to the WiFi tab in the middle at the bottom of the screen

Now go to WiFi Details

Click on the bottom Edit WiFi Settings

Change Security Mode to WPA2

Wait a minute and try your computer again

Good Luck

I had the same problem with my surface pro 3 and the new XB8. Tried everything, and still it would not connect.

Xfinity tech came by today. He could not fix the problem either.

I asked him to put back the old XB7 which did work. He did that and I’m up and running now again.

The one feature I liked about the XB8 was that the range is much better and more stable. I have a Nest thermostat that lost connections frequently and a WebCam outside which did the same, they both work flawlessly with the XB8.
Oh well, I may try again later with the WPA2 solution.
