How to connect Xfi to range extenders without xfi pods?
I just switched to the Xfi router/modem and the connection is not good in my upstairs and basement. How do I connect the existing Xfi to my google wifi or Netgear extenders mesh for better coverage (WITHOUT PURCHASHING XFI PODS)?

That depends on what you want to do, you got a lot of options, and it's extremely important to read the manual before you buy it.
A repeater latches on to an existing WiFi signal and rebroadcasts it. It's important that it speaks the same radio standard that you have your Xfi radio set to. An 802.11 b/g/n repeater will not speak to an 802.11ac radio mode (default for Xfi, unless you changed radio modes). Repeaters are hit and miss and slower typically, but if it's not a far run and you don't care about speed, they're easy.
An access point is typically plugged into your gateway's Ethernet port. You run physical cable to where you want the WiFi and that's where the device goes.
Mesh networks are not equal, but better at signal distribution over large areas (multiple access points). Some have a router you plug in, that broadcasts to external modules creating their own network inside your network. Things on this 'mesh' internal network can only communicate with other devices on this network, NOT devices connected to your gateway's WiFi internal network. (google mesh WiFi does this).
Other Mesh networks have an "AP" mode, so they operate more like an access point, there's just more access points, and everything will appear to be on the same internal network.
