How long till a service upgrade takes effect?

For a test, does a computer hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

What do you get for the upload speed ?

If you are using wifi its highly unlikely that you will notice faster speeds most of the time as you are limitted by the speed of your connections from the device to your home router and whatever bandwidth you are sharing with other wifi connected devices connected to the same router. Distance matters but not as much as you might think.  You could pay for 1GB and it won't make it any faster unless you hard wire your device to your router with a device and it has at least a matching internet card/port to connect to.  You may notice some increased speed if the total of use by all of your devices was maxing out your old connection but if that is the case then you are probably still maxing out your wifi now.  Second unless things have changed with DOCSIS 3 cable internet is designed to maximize downloads, not uploads which is why you only see download speeds being advertised.  

Dude. I've been here for 17 years. I'm not trying to "mock" anybody. I've helped more customers in that time than you could imagine.... Asking about the upload speed will tell us if the modem speed provisioning is correct.

No it was an honest reply to the origninal question - upload speeds probably wont be affected by increasing the download speed - its just the way cable interenet works.

@EG  - Still wet behind the ears I guess,  I retired after being in IT for 35 years, most of it was in networking and internet tech so just because I just started posting here doesn't mean I was born yesterday or that my advice was not sound. I had cable internet before Comcast was providing it.  Somebody calling themselves slow_upload has a problem to solve and buying faster download speeds probably isn't going to help them alot - in 17 years I am sure you learned that upload traffic is shared across the lower part of the cable spectrum and when there is more use, upload speeds deteriorate. 

This is old now but when I went from 200Gbps to 600Gbps I was still getting 175. Even plugging my computer directly to the modem didn't change anything. When Comcast came out and did a signal strength test they found it was very poor and they changed all the connections. After that I was getting 550+ on my computer and 300+ on my phone over WiFi.

For being in IT for 35 years you should know how troubleshooting works. Start with the easiest thing first and move up from there. #1 step is always plugging directly into the modem and see if anything changes.
