How long does 'network upgrade' take?

For 4 days now I've been notified that my internet will be down the following day because xfinity is updating/upgrading the network. I'm always told that work is anticipated to be done within the day but obviously that is not the case. Can anyone give me an estimate on how many days a network update takes so that I can plan accordingly?
