how does xfinity raise my internet speed without giving me new eqipment?
I recently changed my internet plan from 200mbps to 1000mbps but my internet speed is still the same. How is internet speed raised without new equipment?

Hi there, @user_x8bwth! That speed will be awesome in your home once we get it to come through! Great question about how we update the speed. The speed is controlled by the bootfile inside the modem. When we send a provisioning signal or sometimes when your modem resets, that is updated. Our system will send the file that is compatible with your modem and subscribed speed. The modem has to be compatible with the speed tier in order to receive the correct bootfile.
