How Do I set up a guest network -- this should be an easy thing

How do I set up a guest network to give guests wifi access without giving them my personal wifi password?

This should be an easily doable thing? Why is this so complicated??

The Comcast rented gateway devices do not offer that feature. They intend for you to have your guests use the xfinitywifi public hotspot that the gateway also broadcasts as a *guest network*.

That's not very good customer service, if you ask me.
What's the point of a guest network , if your guest is forced to use their own xfinity account with a hotspot? And if they don't have their own xfinity account, they need to sign up for one?? That defeats the purpose of guest access. Just another way Xfinity is letting down its customers. Very disappointing.

You are preachin' to the choir here ! I couldn't agree more ! It's their game and their ball...... Get your own equipment and save the rental fee. It will have way many more features !!!
