How do I edit the Wifi Mode (2.4 and 5 GHz Wifi channel settings) rather than automatic

"If you don't see the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi channel settings (i.e., WiFi Mode, Channel Selection and Channel Mode), it means that these settings are being managed automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible."

"Wi-Fi Mode, Security Mode, Channel Selection, Channel Mode, and Channel Bandwidth are being managed automatically to help optimize your home Wi-Fi network and improve Wi-Fi coverage."

The first message is what I get on the Xfinity website to change my Wifi mode and the second is via the router settings.  I have a device (Nintendo 3DS) that I am trying to connect to the internet.  The issue is that the 802.11 mode needs to be changed to connect to the internet because the default (802.11 g/n/ax) doesn't work but the option to change it is greyed out so I can't do anything.  802.11 b/g/n is what I want to switch to. How do I manage these settings manually?

Greetings, @ErnstH! Thanks for reaching out to us on the Forums! I hope you are having an amazing day! I apologize to hear of the issues you are having when trying to connect your Nintendo 3DS to your network. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like you might be using our XB7. with 802.11 b is not supported on this modem. However, looking into Nintendo Support site it looks like the Nintendo 3DS supports 802.11 g. If you're not able to connect to your network, do you happen to have the wifi SSIDs of XIFINITY, xfinitywifi, or cablewifi by chance? If so try to see if you can connect to these. The only other option would be to bridge mode the modem to a standalone router that supports 802.11 b. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

"do you happen to have the wifi SSIDs of XIFINITY, xfinitywifi, or cablewifi by chance?"  No I dont see them as options.  Are they public hotspots?

Correct, since you are renting the modem from us there is a separate part of the modem that generates the public hotspot. When you try to connect to your Wifi does it show your SSID in the list to connect to by chance? If not, I wonder if there might be something wrong with the Nintendo 3DS wifi adapter. Do you know when the last time was the 3DS was able to connect to the internet?

My SSID that everything else is connected to and runs on shows up on everything including the Nintendos, but none of the mentioned hotspot ones(XIFINITY, xfinitywifi, or cablewifi ) show up on anything.  We have two Nintendo 3DS in the house and according to the xfinity.com/myxfi. app page both of them were last connected on November 7th so I doubt the same fault is with both of them.

They should be able to connect properly to the home network regardless of the band settings as they would normally connect to the 2.4GHz network. Do you by any chance have them separated?

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityEdgardo

have what seperated?   To go back to a previous comment I now figured out how to get the hotspots to come up, at least on my laptop (xfinitywifi and XFINITY) by retoggling the feature on the myxfinity app page.  however none of these show up when I am searching for SSIDs/access points for my Nintendo.  Only my main one (which apparantly does not support 802.11 b or g and I have no way of enabling that for whatever reason.....) along with random low signal wifis of neighbors.

this is probably the same issue which keeps a realtek rtl8188ce nic adapter from seeing the 2.4 Ghz wireless connection on the "automatically managed" wireless settings. Looks like a bad decision by Comcast interna

internal techies. Was not a good decision.
