How do I connect Canon MG6320 wireless printer with Xb7 modem?

This wireless printer has recently become unable to connect to my network. When I try to reconnect, the printer identifies an "access point," but since there's no button for me to press on the modem, the printer is unable to actually connect to the access point and just times out.

So how do I get the modem to communicate with the printer?

Thanks.

It's both / dual purpose, depending on how you operate it / how long it is held in.

"This button has -2- functions. 1)- a quick push/release triggers the WPS function. 2)-a push and hold (about 30 seconds) triggers the "factory reset to defaults..."

You must have held it in for too long so it wiped out everything.

Hey there, your printer likely requires the 2.4Ghz band, we merge them with our gateway so you won't be able to differentiate between the two. Some devices are capable of doing that on their own, if they are not, then you would simply enter the network ID and password manually, and it will be able to find the 2.4Ghz.

Do you not have this button on the back of your XB7 ?

The WPS button is the one that has the --> <-- icon.

@EG Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I do have that button, but isn’t that the “reset,” rather than the access point?

Because when I pressed it, not only did the printer still not connect to the network, it removed my network entirely. I had to call xfinity and have them help me set up a new network and password.

No it is the WPS button it's only funtion is too connect two devices that both have wps activated in short period of time.  Find out how to activate wps on printer and do that at same time as you click it on xb7 xfinity modem and they will sync togeather without you doing any more work (atleeast that is goal not always perfect but sounds like your running out of options)

Incorrect.. It is also a reset to factory defaults button.

Be aware you are not out of options,  if wps does not work youtube how to add printer manually through ip address,  its actually simple download "advanced ip scanner" find out what ip address of printer is on network(if you cant find ip address manually with the display on screen of printer which are tough honestly) go to control panel > devices and printers > add a printer > my device is not showing > add device through tcp ip address > change drop down too ip address > type ip address you learned through advanced ip scanner(your on xfinity forum with xb7 so expect it to look like 10.0.0.__ > then just allow it to choose driver itself click yes (driver part is going to bee too much honestly and usually for general printer use it actually works well)  boom you have printer . Goodluck

Thanks to both of you for resolving this problem. Yes, that's exactly what I did a few days ago: I held the button too long, and inadvertently caused the modem to reset. As recommended, I tried again this morning, but this time holding it for just a few seconds, and, bingo, printer connected to network!

Again, thanks!

[but, really, isn't it a little "dumb" to have a single button function as both the WPS access point and as reset?!]

It's likely to save money on the build / less hardware required. Glad you got it squared away !
