How can I get DHCP addresses that are 192.168.0.X and able to reach out to the public internet?

Hello,

I run Linux virtual machines on my laptop for programming.

I recently signed up for new services Xfinity services and noticed that my virtual machines are receiving 10.0.0.x addresses.

I can SSH to these boxes from my laptop, but those virtual machines cannot reach out to the public internet.

I can't ping google.com or any other external host.

What settings do I need to change on my Xfinity router to allow classic 192.168.0.X addresses that can reach out to the public internet?

@EG - I don't believe this is correct.

I am trying to accomplish the following:

-Update the DHCP addresses to be assigned from a 192.168.0.x subnet
-Allow any device that obtains these addresses to be able to access the open internet via: PING, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS

I don't want to define a port forwarding for every port I need to egress out of.

O/k sorry that didn't help.... I do not use a Comcast supplied gateway device, so I am not familiar with how to change the DHCP address subnet from a 10.xxx range to a 192.xxx range, sorry. Perhaps someone with that knowledge will chime in here. Good luck !

I believe you can change that in the gateway admin panel, it’s where you can edit the dhcp servers ip range
