How can I find out if my town has DOCSIS 3.1?

Just as the question is in the subject. I would like to know this because I would like to use a more current device than my Netgear CM700. Is there anyway to know this without actually purchasing a new modem and activating it? What I do know is there is 32 downstream locked channels and 4 upstream locked channels. Other than that I have no idea if my town was on the DOCSIS 3.1 roll out plan.

Shop for a plan upgrade online. If the Gigabit tier is available for you, you have DOCSIS 3.1 available.

You won't need to change to DOCSIS 3.1 unless you plan to subscribe to the Gigabit speed tier. It won't do anything for you.
