Hotspot feature not disabling

I am beyond frustrated, because no matter what I do the public hotspot "feature" will not turn off. My modem is in bridge mode, I don't use xfinity's wifi at all, and for some reason it won't turn off. I've disabled it in the app, on the website, called support and had them tell me it's still broadcasting the SSID but no one can connect to it... which is WRONG because a friend with the hotspots on his phone did connect to it. I also know it's mine because there are no houses within signal range, and when I unplug it the SSID goes away.

Why won't this public wifi turn off?!?!?!!?

Hello @serfinwebb, thanks for reaching out for help with your Xfinity Hotspot.

The Home Hotspot feature will continue to be available even when your device is in bridge mode, allowing your guests to connect to Xfinity WiFi when visiting. If you wish to disable or enable the Home Hotspot feature, you can do so through your account.

The Xfinity WiFi service is designed to work on a separate network so that your home network remains entirely secure. However, you should be able to disable this feature by following the steps here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/disable-xfinity-wifi-home-hotspot. You mentioned that you have tired disabling it on the App/Wbsite. When you do this, are you getitng to the point wher eyou see the message stating: "Your hotspot has been disabled. Please allow 24 hours for this change to take effect in My Account and your Wireless Gateway."

I have also done all of these steps, waited several days, rebooted gateway multiple times, and it continues to show up.  How do I disable both of them permanently?  I do not want these options on my network.

The only way to be sure is to use your own third-party modem. You'll save the rental fee too and it will pay for itself in fairly short order !!
