Home LAN

When we built our house in 2002 we put (4) Cat 5 outlets in different parts of the house. There is a 'structured wiring' box adjacent to our current Xfinity modem / router.    The Cat 5 wires originate at the structured wiring box and are plugged into a now 18 year old Leviton 10Base-T Network Hub.  Until now we have never used any parts of that 'network'.  I would like to start using it with my internet ready stereo and possibly other devices.  I assume that Leviton Hub is way outdated.  To begin using this network is it as simple as running Cat 5 cable from the Xfinity modem / router to a 'LAN switch' to feed those outlets?  If so, is there a specific 'LAN switch' that I should buy?
