High Ping While Playing Games

I recently moved into a new apartment. My old complex (literally two minutes away from the one I live at now) provided internet. However, my new one did not, and I was consequently forced to sign up for my own internet. The complex suggested Xfinity as the internet provider, so I signed up for service and opted to use Xfinity's Gateway modem + router. After setting up the equipment, I immediately noticed that every time I try to play any video game, I am completely unable to play due to consistent high ping. I have never experienced this prior to getting Xfinity internet.

For reference, prior to moving my ping was always around 10-20ms no matter what game I played. Now, my ping is reaching the THOUSANDS and hovers at around 800-900ms, rendering any video game unplayable. This is an all day occurrence, and is not dependent on time of day. Due to the way I had to set up my router, connecting via an ethernet cable is not an option.

Any solutions?

It would really help to narrow things down if you could find a way to connect via ethernet and see if the problem remains or not.

I attempted to connect via ethernet cable and the problem still persists.

OK what do the modem's signal stat values look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.
