High Ping and packet loss
Hoping for some help as I have been unable to get any help from Xfinity recently-chat/bot only wants to reset gateway which doesn't solve my issue. Have been on hold several times but unable to get through to a tech.
currently on 175MPS plan. Have a new Arris SB6183 with a Asus AX-88u router. Wired connection to gaming PC-have tried both direct from modem and from router-still have high PL %-spikes of 30% wtih either connection. no splitter instead the house wiring-have swapped the cat 5e cable-no difference.
have had the issue with high packet loss the last couple of months. had a tech come out and he did find a signal loss-replaced a connection outside the home. internet was better for a few days but now back to high ping, etc.
Have ran ping plotter to gaming server, google, and direct to modem. Modem plot is fine. showing PL loss from 2nd hop to final hop for google, iracing.com servers and twitter. Latency has large spreads. Have tried different PC with similar results.
Here's the modem report:
operation of the cable modem.

Yes-that is the same form. I suspect that the issue is outside my neighborhood. starts at the 2nd hop but still loss/latency increases through the Oregon servers too. Once again, perfect internet this morning. so, yes, my signal (your signal) probably is in "spec". The issue points to traffic congestion. It would just be helpful to know if/what Comcast is actually going to do about it.

As far as I'm aware, the 2nd hop is the first time it hits Comcast's network though, so pinging out from a computer, the first hop is your networking equipment, then to the street. If you experience 20% packet loss between the first and second hop like I do, then something is very wrong imo.
Getting T3 and T4 timeouts multiple times per day is not symptomatic of a strong, stable connection, I don't care what anybody says. I'll post back what the technician says when they're out tomorrow.

Karl, I should also add that I am not getting that many timeouts on my modem. Only when techs had been working on the system.
sounds like you may have something else going on that is slightly different than my situation. Are you seeing a good signal in off peak hours or do you have issues all day?

Well, got an update from customer service today. Due to all of the new customers ( due to all of the construction in the area) yes, the node in my area is overloaded. Comcast has applied for a permit to address it but no firm ETA. I did get a credit for this month which is at least fair given the situation. She said she would keep me posted on the next steps in the resolution.

@trackrat2 I see good signals and great latency with low jitter in the mornings, and then it degrades and gets unmanageable from about 3-4pm until midnight.
I get about 2-3 T3 timeouts per day, so it's not like its constant. I tried temporarily upgrading to the 1 gig plan so the upload speeds would be better, but it hasn't changed much. Really points to noise or congestion on the line. It also just kind of comes out of nowhere sometimes. Tonight, I'm about 3-4% packet loss (which with the high jitter still makes gaming or VOIP conversations nearly impossible), but then it'll shoot up to 20% out of nowhere for several minutes.
Hopefully I can get the tech tomorrow to see the issue so the Grey Hawk can fly again.

@trackrat2 Tech came by today and basically said the same thing to me. He confirmed he's spoken to multiple people in my area as well, and indicated that Comcast was aware back in January that the node was approaching capacity and filed permits for construction on a new node. COVID has not only made the issue worse, it also delayed starting that construction. He said currently this node is by far the worst in all of SW Washington.
The outages in the area last week were them trying to add a 5th channel to the line as a temporary band-aid to the situation, but some of the equipment had issues with it, so they had to roll it back and replace a lot of it. He said next week they are scheduled to turn on the 5th channel again, which should add some relief while they work toward getting the permits with the City of Vancouver on the new node.

Thanks Karl. Hopefully it gets a bit better after that channel gets added. Signal was really bad again Monday afternoon. Not sure what it is about Monday's but that is the worst day of the week for the spikes.
Got a notice for maintenance 5/28 as I am sure you did too.
it would be helpful if Comcast would respond to the forum or customers when there is a known issue. I have been calling, tracking my issues, getting frustrated with the "help" chat bot, on and on but it took a AG complaint to get to a real update on status.

My signal woes continue. I know Comast is working on it at least but this is getting old. Typically Monday's are worst but this is pretty tough tonight. Everything buffers with this kind of performance.
Posted last night and today as a comparison. Yesterday was at least tolerable.

Not good-no resolution yet although I do believe Comcast is working on a few fixes. My patience is thin-this has been going on for months.
I especially love it when I go to check troubleshooting and it says everything is looking good when it isn't.

So at 6am, signal does look good-so, yes, Comcast, it does look good at your end as long as early am.

My internet issue log continues:
Slightly better than yesterday evening but pretty hard to do anything that requires a solid signal. I was hoping to participate in my Monday online racing league-not like this. My car is basically blinking very few seconds/minutes and looks like its falling out of the sky at times to my competitors. Nice if I wanted to win the high jump in my virtual car but not so good in a esport road race.
I have a plan though-just learned that Centurylink has added high speed fiber optic options to my neighborhood-guess it was a few weeks ago but I just set up an installation appointment for Wednesday. if all goes well, I can post my results to share the performance. and my experience if that helps.
Want to confirm its stable and reliable before I end my cable account and move on. Too bad, I have had great experiences over the years with Comcast-across many states. Just moved to the wrong neighborhood for Comcast as they have too many customers but not the right infrastructure to meet the demand.

Comcast finally upgraded the node we connect to and everything works fine now.
