High # of Uncorrected Errors and Issues with Upload Speeds

I have been using an MB8611 for 2 years with no issues. Downloads at 1.4G, uploads at 40Mbps. A week or so back the modem started showing high numbers of uncorrected errors, upstream power levels of >50 dBmV on each channel, and then started rebooting itself. Several times per hour.

I checked the connections, and put a new 2-way Antronix splitter in front of it to rule out the 6-way Antronix amplified until I had - no change. I had a tech come out.

He tested the cable where the modem is and said it was all good - the numbers the modem is reporting meant nothing to him he said. So he went out and switched the outside box and connectors for new, and said that was all he could do. The effect was the upstream power readings dropped to ~47, and he left. The uncorrectable errors continued. As did the random modem reboots.

I switched back in my older MB8600 to see what effect that had - and while the reboots have stopped, the uncorrected errors have not, and now my upload speeds are stuck at ~6Mbps (downloads are back to <1Gb for now as expected but in the 900's, which is fine)

So I think I still have an issues with the uncorrected errors, and this upload speed isn't right. Any suggestions?

I don't seem to be able to post a screenshot, so here's the first few lines of downstream. The % rates of corrected/uncorrected are similar up and down. The modem has been up for 22h.

Clearly the issue was with the service. We were notified of an outage for 'performance reasons' a few evenings ago, and then all the uncorrectable errors disappeared.

So I switched back to the MB8611 and it now stays up - and the upload speed went back to normal.

I still have a ton of errors on one downstream channel - but performance seems ok. Should I just ignore it....?

Thanks for the update, @user_2ocx6i. It sounds like the recent interruption/repair helped. I'm glad it did! Have you experienced any random resets/disconnects or any other symptoms (lagging, packet loss, slow connectivity) aside from the results you mentioned on the downstream channel?

Thanks for responding. No, not as yet. It's only been a few days, but I have to say, so far, so good.

I'm glad to hear that, @user_2ocx6i. Let's allow it a couple of days to see if the issues persist. If you experience it again, let us know. We can continue helping privately.

I have high uncorrectables on my S33 modem.

My speeds perfectly fine, but when I am on Teams virtual calls, the calls randomly drop and reconnect. It happens all day everyday so its more of a stability issue than a speed issue.

The tech came out but the problem persists.

@user_knjx22

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 5-month-old dead thread is now being closed.

For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on someone else's older thread can delay getting help.
