High Latency in Online Gaming
Hello,
I've paid for the highest speed plan in my area, which boasts "ultra low latency." I'm not experiencing that by any means--rather, my ping is often average at best, and frequently spikes to the point where I get disconnected. I use the latest Xfinity modem and have my own router. I've triple checked all the settings. I'm confident it's not a device issue. What can I do, if anything, to resolve this? I only play a few games, so it's not a huge issue, but my time on those is important to me as a way to relax.

Hello user_seaue8, thanks for spending some time here on our Forum. I totally get wanting to relax and enjoy your time to game, I would be wanting the same thing if I were in your shoes. I'll do all that I can to get this figured out with you, but I do have a few questions to get us on the same page from the start. You mentioned using your own router with your Xfinity gateway. Are you able to test with that router disconnected completely? Your gateway has a built-in router, so that will help us rule some a few things. Also, do you have your gateway in bridge mode while your router is connected? And finally, are you seeing this connectivity issue over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or both types of connections?
