Hidden Network

I recently noticed that among the Networks I see displayed on my desktop there is a network called Hidden Network with many power bars. It only has a connect button and does not have a properties or forget buttons. Just as a test. I was able to connect to it with my password and the name changed to my wifi name plus the number 2. I was able to log on multiples times and it created new names in sequential order. For example., wifi2, wifi3, wifi4. Why is this happening.

This is definitely an odd situation, @user_99241b! We can dig into this further, but need a little more information via direct message.

Click "Sign In" if necessary

 • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon (upper right corner of this page)

 • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

 • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list

 • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

 • Press Enter to send your message

We'll continue assisting you there!

At that link, were you able to go in and make sure the phone is listed as a trusted device?

@XfinityTimothy I did not find it but I went into the contact phone numbers and my phone is verified. Are you calling me?

FWIW. The "Hidden Network(s)" is / are used for interfacing with the Xfinity Home Security devices. There is no need to mess with it.

@EG Then why is it allowing me to log on multiple times, thus creating multiple wifi ssids. I dont have an Xfi Home Security device so how do I get rid of it. Also once I forget one of the new wifi names which comes up when logging into the Hidden Network, another one reappears.

I'm not a Comcast employee, software coder, or Comcast engineer so I can't speak authoritatively about the "whys". But I do know that those broadcasts can't be disabled. Just leave them be. "Curiosity killed the cat". 😉

Thank you EG, but from my Direct Messaging with Timothy from Xfinity, it looks like he understands the issue and indicated they want to look further into the creation WiFi2, WiFi3, so on and so forth when I log onto the Hidden Network.
