Help re a possible scam re my computer's local hostname

I got a pop-up on my computer that says:

"This computer’s local hostname “Keiths-iMac-Retina-5K-27-inch-Mid-2019.local” is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to “Keiths-iMac-Retina-5K-27-inch-Mid-2076.local”.

To change the local hostname, open System Settings, go to General > Sharing, then click “Edit” and type the name in the “Local hostname” field."

I got this last week, and my first reaction was that something was wrong with it.  It my computer has been in use on this network for many years.  I suspect this is an attempt to allow someone else access to my computer or???

What should I do?   Keith [Edited: "Personal Information"]

ps.  I am not that interested in what "the community" might say--I'd like to hear from an expert who works for Xfinity

pps.  Neither of the "topic" choices comes remotely close to fitting my problem

Thank you for reaching out and creating a new post. I hope you are doing well, besides the recent pop-up, which I see was concerning. It's always a good idea to be aware of any bad pop-ups for fraudulent online activity. If it does sound or feel right, I certainly would not engage with this pop-up. Have you noticed any alerts on other devices or any changes since then?
