HELP. Most websites not loading. Google YouTube Facebook LOAD, most others do NOT!

Need help sorting this very very annoying issue. have spent HOURS (almost all day) trying to figure this out. Some devices are ethernet connected, some on wifi. Some devices work one day and then stop the next. No clue what’s causing this but it’s affecting most all devices on the network with an exception of a few (though these few had the exact same issue a few weeks prior!!) Please help!

Thanks for meeting us here in our community, @user_1x91wc. We are sorry to hear about the trouble with some websites. We are happy to help. What troubleshooting have you tried to get the websites to load?

Good afternoon, Linda! We were having very annoying issues as described, however those have subsided. since then, we’re pretty much back to normal other than slower speeds on some devices and intermittent connection on one device specifically.

We‘ve had 2 technicians, an upgraded xFi device, multiple people check out our device settings and network settings.

Pretty much ran dry all options that we can think of

@user_1x91wc, thanks for getting back to us with this information. We definitely want to do everything we can to determine the underlying cause of this. @flatlander3 provided some great and helpful information. Which is definitely going to better help us further troubleshoot this.

At your convenience, please get back to us letting us know if this helps or not, as well as if you're using an Xfinity Gateway or a Customer-owned modem.

Thank you!

If you go to test-ipv6.com , what does it tell you.  Are you getting both an IPV4 and IPV6 address, or just an IPV6 address?

@flatlander3 i’m getting both ipv4 & ipv6 addresses. the connection cuts out every few minutes and turning the wifi off and back on helps for a few minutes then it cuts out again. this is the computer i do my work on and it’s really hindering my work.

@user_1x91wc The equipment you are using (model numbers), and firmware release is always important for a bug report.  Is this an Xfinity gateway?

One thing you can try, is see if you've got DNS issues.  When you can't get somewhere, pull up a CMD prompt (if windows) or a terminal.  Try an nslookup.  From the prompt, type "nslookup [web_site_you_can't_reach]" .  See if you get a timeout.  It defaults to using your set DNS servers -- which are locked if you are using Xfinity equipment.  If you aren't, you might have better luck with alternate DNS servers.

You also might just be having signal issues and your connection is struggling in general.  If you log into your gateway (or modem), post the entire signal table, and error logs here and it might shed some light on the problem.  If you post error logs, redact the MAC addresses or the forum bot will mark the post private (It's private information).  There's more information about what to look for, including your wiring, and things like amps (if you have one), connectors, cabling and splitters here:  https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/internet-troubleshooting-tips/602dae4ac5375f08cde52ea0
