Got new Xfinity modem and now can't print over wifi with epson workforce 545
Got new Xfinity modem and now can't print over wifi with epson workforce 545. Prior to switching out to new modem epson printed with no issues. I've seen multiple post where people are having issues but I haven't found anything that works yet. From what I can tell there might be an issue with transferring information from old modem to new modem. Everything seems to be working fine except my printer. Look at the epson network status sheet my printer ip starts with 169.254.###.### but the gateway ip range starts with 10.0.##.### so I'm assuming the reason I get A router/access point channel conflict has been detected. I see the printer connected to my gateway and it shows connected on to wifi on the printer itself. My channel options in my gateway are disabled so not sure how to move forward ... any help would be appreciated.

You may be able to change the WiFi operating channel using either the xfinity app or the website;

Yep...I spent the entire day yesterday, and so far today (11:30am) , trying every. single. thing (x5) I can find & think of to get my wireless Brother printer to connect to my network. We just switched out old Xfinity modem to new white modem Thursday night (husband already returned old modem.) I had a heck of a time getting my laptop connected, and finally did only after I manually renamed/separated the bands (2.4 vs 5) via app (which has been worthless aside from that). But, unlike others online who had this solve their printer connection, this did nothing for mine. My printer isn't even 2 yrs old... I do not want to sit on phone with customer service just to have them tell me to unplug my gateway, restart my gateway, unplug my printer, replug my printer, make sure my Wlan is enabled, etc. FWIW, I have scoured all articles on Xfinity as well as other non-Xfinity sites & forums online & tried all suggestions several times (see above). This is absolutely insane.

FWIW, and maybe to help provide a tad of clarity. The 169.254.xxx.xxx IP address is what is known as being a *self assigned* IP address. It's what happens when a device's operating system can not find a valid DHCP server for it to talk to / get assigned a valid IP address from. It comes from the printer itself, not the router / gateway device. The printer is not communicating with the router for whatever the reason may be.

So I was researching another topic and read this, it seems some epson printers have a button you push for about 2 minutes and it will connect via Weps, I haven’t seen this mentioned, it’s in the printers documentation

Another FWIW, whenever you change out equipment, you need to reset your printer so that it will be able to find your network. Unplug the cord from the back of your printer and then remove the cord from the electrical outlet. Pretend you're setting up your printer for the first time by following the printer's documentation for connecting to your network.

i feel kinda of foolish for bringing this up but, i just checked my firewall settings, so if you didn't change them and they are on Maximum Security, it blocks all lan traffic, so trying to print wont happen, so i tried on Maximum Security, wouldn't print, set a custom firewall, printed right away.... I love my Xb7

(Keep getting kicked out of forum, so apologies if this is a duplicate post).
I also completely disabled firewall with no results. Had already checked that anyway.
My final update: I gave up and switched back to the xb6 gateway as well. I'm pretty stubborn about such things, but guy at xfinity store made me feel better when he told me HE still uses the xb6--said the xb7 has too many kinks that still need to be worked out.
Also, for those still struggling to get their wireless printer & other devices to recognize the new gateway: Be sure you're using exact same network name and pw as before. Xfinity store guy said some printers get the old wifi network burned into their memory--annoyingly, even after their network settings are reset (which I did, several times). Of course this was the ONLY troubleshoot I did not try, lol...my husband had changed the network name when he first switched out the gateways. I guess I'll never know if it would have solved my problem.
(My Kindle was unable to recognize the xb7 either, but was back online immediately after reinstall of xb6).
Thanks for all the suggestions. Happy printing!

ok, first i have my printer working on 4 different operating systems Win 10, Linux, FreeBSD and ios with no issues at all, so i spent the last day trying to duplicate the errors folks are getting trying to get their printer to try to print, i was able to duplicate most of them , but not before committing user error and/or a illegal operation, most say that they can see the printer showing as connected on the gateway, perfect, so if you try to print it will most likely fail, i will get to why shortly, so at this point before you do anything else, execute a simple ping command to establish that your computer can actually communicate with your printer using the correct printers ip, if it is you will most likely get a response, perfect, you can google how to do the ping command, very basic, so at this point DO NOT try to manually set a IP from your printers configuration page, it clearly states that ONLY if the printer doesn't get a dhcp automatically try a manual setting, you cant do both, if you try both you will most likely get a IP conflict, that being said, you don't even have to visit that page to successfully setup your printer, so we established that the printer is connected to the gateway, the ping command should have established that your computer can communicate with your printer, guess what it still wont print, you now have to go into settings and select the printer one, you will see your printer installed, you need to remove it, it has the configuration for the xb6, so then select add a printer, you will see your printer as a option, select it, it will install it with the new configuration to work with the Xb7, at this point you should be able to print, least i was able too, if not be sure since with this new xb7 you established a new wifi connection, if you click on the connection icon in the systray, it will give 2 choices, public and private, the text along with the selections should be self explanatory, but in case it isn't you want to select private, try to print, should work, if not adjust your firewall settings to disable to test it, remember you have 2 firewalls, on mine i couldn't print even on the low security setting, disabling the firewall fixed it for me, i must stress i don't use any of xfi apps or xfi webpage, i don't know if this makes any difference, i was able to successfully print form my windows 10 computer using the magnificent Xb7 haha Hope this helps somebody

Happening with XB3 also. Has to be something Comcast has pushed out to gateways. Printer will connect to wireless network but doesn't seem to get valid DHCP assignment so it falls back to a 169.254.xxx.xxx address. Extremely frustrating. No new equipment. Xfinity/Comcast please escalate & fix this!!

Was able to finally get printer going. Saw that gateway had assigned a DHCP address to the printer. The printer did not show that assignment. It showed the 169. address. I changed the assignment from DHCP to Reserved in the gateway and then programmed the printer with the manual IP address. Will see how it goes when things reboot over time. BTW, I did try disabling the 5G network and it made no difference. Printer failed to pick up the assigned IP. Printer is only about 10 feet from the gateway. So, interference issues seem unlikely.

We also went round and round with Xfinity. Had 3 chats (each chat dropped and had to start over with a new chat) and one real person finally via the phone. Basically spent about 5 hours on the problem with them after hours trying to troubleshoot by ourselves. I explained to each person that this was a known problem and had been reported multiple times on the xfinity forum and it all tends to point back to the new modem. We can't go back to the old modem because we have already sent it back. "Luckily" while working on the phone with a live person, there was a neighborhood issue so she set up a technician appt for the next day. I don't know if she would have done that if we had not had that problem. The tech showed up (on time!!!) but didn't know any of the history, but i showed him this page and he started with the usual reboot, reset, epson's problem, etc. We finally decided to try to connect the printer via ethernet to the modem and uninstall and re-install the printer on our laptops via wifi. IT WORKED!!!!!! So the printer is connected to the modem via ethernet but our laptops can connect to the printer wifi. I know this isn't a solution for everyone, but it works for us since our modem and printer are fairly close to each other and in the same room. The tech was a really nice guy and i hope he shares our partial solution with others, but idk...
